Garry Lewellen
Gary LewellenLewellen graduated from the University of Texas, in 1970, with a degree in Political Science. He subsequently attended the University of Texas School of Law, while serving as Governor Preston Smith’s Student Affairs Advisor for all college campuses within the state.
 
Thereafter, with approval of the State Board of Law Examiners, he successfully completed the work/study program required for bar eligibility. During such time, he also remained actively involved in the statewide political campaign of Lt. Governor Bill Hobby, while also employed with the law firm of Kent Hance. In December, 1973, having passed the bar examination, Lewellen was admitted to the practice of law by the Texas Supreme Court.
 
Lewellen is also authorized to practice law before the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas; and the United States Court of Appeals, 5th Circuit.  Since 1977, he has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.
 
C.O. McMillan, a sole practitioner for 45 years, honored Lewellen by forming the partnership of McMillan & Lewellen, a litigation firm handling the legal needs of clients throughout North Central Texas. The law firm partners have enjoyed an active courtroom presence and professionalism covering the last 88 years.
 
Lewellen’s professional memberships have included the American Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the College of the State Bar, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, the Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Erath County Bar Association.
 
Lewellen actively serves as the Tarleton State University Student Legal Advisor, assisting both students and faculty with legal issues. He has served in this capacity for over 30 consecutive years. He has also remained an active member of the President’s Club, promoting scholastic achievement and scholarships at the University.
 
Additionally, presiding District Judges have named Lewellen to serve
as “Special Prosecutor” in numerous high profile cases in Erath, Hood, Hamilton, Bosque, Comanche, Palo Pinto, and Eastland counties.
 
Lewellen has been named the criminal defense “go to” attorney in a survey of attorneys in this area, conducted by “Texas Lawyer”, a weekly publication.
 
He grew up in Temple, Texas, where his father sold appliances for Sears, and his mother worked at the Soil Conservation Service. They instilled in him a strong work ethic, the importance of faith, and a desire to fight for what is just and right.

Beth Lewellen

Beth Lewellen

Born in New England, Beth received her undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After college, she was employed in marketing research and advertising, prior to her acceptance at Vermont Law School. In three years she completed her Master of Studies in Environmental Law as well as her Juris Doctor degree, receiving both in 1988.  During that time she also interned at the United States Department of Justice’s Environmental Enforcement Division in Washington, D.C., and later worked in the Family Crimes Unit at the Harris County District Attorney’s office, prior to opening her law practice in Stephenville.
 
Beth served as the elected Erath County Attorney in the early nineties, where she enjoyed an active courtroom presence and prosecuted hundreds of criminal offenses. During her multiple terms in office, she maintained membership in the Texas District and County Attorney Association. Additionally, she advocated for children and families by providing emergency protective orders and represented the state in temporary and permanent custody hearings. Upon her engagement and subsequent marriage, Beth left elected office to join her husband Garry’s practice at Lewellen Law. She continues her work at Lewellen Law using her experience in litigation, research, and office management, while maintaining a compassion for the needs of her clients.
 
In addition to her legal practice, Beth has been active in the community and state, in various positions. She is currently a member of the Texas Bar Association, the Erath County Bar Association, the Stephenville Study Club, the UYA Investment Club, President’s Club at Tarleton State University, and is President Elect of the Pioneer District of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs. She has served in the past as President of the Erath County Bar Association, President of the Stephenville Study Club, and President of the Stephenville Rotary Club. She also served on the boards of Project H.O.P.E., Erath County Relay for Life, the Harris Methodist Hospital Development Board, and the Erath County Humane Society.

Bethany Espinoza

Bethany Espinoza

Bethany was raised in a military family, taking the best of those experiences with her as she pursued her legal career. She graduated, summa cum laude, from Tarleton State University with her undergraduate degree in political science. During that time she completed an internship program through the office of the presiding judge of the Erath County Court at Law. Prior to her acceptance, with a full scholarship, to Baylor School of Law, Bethany pursued her interest in the law by serving as a legal assistant at Lewellen Law.
 
While completing her law degree, Bethany distinguished herself scholastically and by her participation in Baylor and national moot court tournaments. She also was selected to serve as Senior Executive Editor of the Baylor Law Review, prior to graduating magna cum laude with her Doctor of Jurisprudence, in 2006.
 
Upon receiving her law degree, Bethany was recruited by a Fort Worth law firm, where she remained employed until her return to Lewellen Law.
 
Bethany is licensed to practice law in all Texas courts, as well as in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas. Her litigation and family law practice covers all of North Central Texas.
 
Professionally, Bethany is an active member in the Texas Bar Association, as well as the Erath County Bar Association. She also serves Faith Lutheran Church as a council member and Sunday School teacher, and is a member of the Board of Education for Faith School.
